Suburbophobia

Suburbophobia's a comic made in Melbourne by a nice guy called Chris. How nice is he? So nice that Suburbophobia is free and he posted some over for me. It's free over here in Auckland too. As in, you just come over to the shop and find Suburbophobia on the shelf and it's yours. If you don't like it, give it to a friend that will. Or give it back to me. I like it! You probably will too. It's about his life, and it's funny.

the drawings of sam wallman

If you click on this link you can see a whole bunch of drawings by Sam Wallman. They're awesome.

He's made two books, 'Being Born is Goin Blind' and 'Brain Furniture'. You can get them at Baby Genius, the big one's $20, the little one's $15. Those are NZ dollars and turning them into one of Sam's books is a really good use for them.

How the shop's looking at the mo.

Kakelake is German for cockroach. It's also Eli J. Orzessek's rad new art dealership located within the compound of fun that is Snakepit on High Street, Auckland, New Zealand. It's pronounced kaka-laka (roughly) but if you want to say cake lake, nobody's gonna tell you off.

Baby Genius Books is a big white shelf up on your left when you walk your happy way through the door into Kakelake. Here you can find new local zines, comics and books of drawings we really like, as well as other small-press books hard to find elsewhere. There are some cool old zines for sale, too. And art books. We just want to share good stuff with you. It's all reasonably priced, some of it's even free. Come have a look, thumb through things. It might not be a lending library, but it's not a museum either.
